Membership
Community and Fellowship: Being part of a church allows believers to connect with other Christians, we are a supportive community where you can share your experiences, we can encourage one another, and we can grow spiritually together.
Spiritual Growth: Regular attendance and involvement in a church provide opportunities for worship, prayer, Bible study, and participation in sacraments like baptism and communion, all of which contribute to spiritual growth and maturity.
Accountability: Church membership entails accountability to fellow believers and church leadership, which can help individuals stay committed to their faith and live according to Christian principles.
Service and Mission: Churches often engage in various outreach and mission activities aimed at serving the community and spreading the message of Christ. Being a member allows individuals to participate more fully in these endeavors.
Stewardship: Membership involves contributing time, talents, and financial resources to support the work of the church, including its ministries, programs, and maintenance of its facilities.
Protection and Care: Within a church community, members can receive pastoral care, support during times of difficulty or crisis, and guidance in navigating life's challenges from pastoral staff and fellow believers.
CHURCH COVENANT
Having been brought by God’s grace to repent and believe in Jesus Christ, trusting Him alone as our Lord and Savior we now, in humble reliance and dependence upon the Holy Spirit, resolve to live by faith, and so establish this covenant with each other, as one body in Christ. We endeavor to do the following:
We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Eph 4:3)
We will be devoted to one another in brotherly love. With humility and gentleness we will patiently bear with each other, forgiving, encouraging and building one another up, exercising watchfulness over each other and admonishing one another when necessary. (Luke 17:3; Col 3:13; 1Thes 5:11; 1Pet 1:22)
We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray for ourselves and others. (Col 4:2; Heb 10:25)
We promise to bring up our children and youth in the training and instruction of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends. (Eph 6:4; 1Pet 3:1)
We will rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep, helping to carry each other’s burdens. (Rom 12:15)
We will shun destructive chatter, gossiping and avoid all tattling, backbiting, excessive anger, and placing a high value on unity in the church being a peacemaker with all in the body of Christ (Eph 4:29; 2Cor 12:20; Rom 14:19; Eph 4:1-3; Col 3:12-14; Matt 5:9, 23-26)
We will seek, by God’s help, to live carefully in this world, denying ungodliness and worldly passions. We will strive to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age, as we wait for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. (Titus 2:12; 1Pet 1:14)
We will strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, peace and comfort, as well as to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior. (Phil 1:9-11; Eph 4:22- 24; 1Cor 7:15; Matt 28:19-20; 2Pet 3:11)
We will maintain a close relationship with the Lord Jesus through regular Bible reading, prayer, fellowship, and practice of spiritual disciplines, and will use our spiritual gifts and talents for the common good. (Ps 105:1-2; Ps 119:97; 1Pet 4:10; Eph 4:11-12)
We will defend and maintain an evangelical ministry in this church by supporting and upholding:
The preaching of the Word of God (2Tim 4:2)
The administration of the Gospel Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper) (Acts 2:38; 1Cor 11:26)
The exercise of Church discipline (Matt 18:17; 1Cor 5:13)
We will contribute cheerfully, generously and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations (Matt 28:19; Luke 12:33; 2Cor 9:7)
We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen. (2Cor 13:14)
